At its Bari facility - the beating heart of national production - the company has once again chosen Aetna Group as its partner for installing new high-performance solutions. All this reaffirms a long-standing partnership that has been consistently renewed over the years.
Among the most recent developments, the most noteworthy is the introduction of the Pegasus D 500 (an OCME-designed robotic depalletiser), which marks a significant technological advancement for the production site. The decision to adopt this machine arose from the need to process pallets with up to 11 layers of 33 cl bottles, thus providing greater operational flexibility and overcoming the constraints of an outdated system with no support or spare parts available. This is Birra Peroni’s first robotic-arm depalletiser for bulk containers: a system designed to handle formats from 33 to 66 cl, capable of reaching a speed of approximately 60,000 bottles per hour. The pallet unwrapping and centring area, the installed clamp, and the automatic system for removal and storage of interlayers and caps, ensure operational continuity, efficiency, and operator safety.
Alongside the depalletiser, the Bari plant has been equipped with two Altair N80 wrap-around case packers and a Genesis Thunder wrapping machine. The Altair machines, OCME’s flagship wrap-around case packers, combine high speed, efficiency, and precision in the production of compact, slim cartons that are sealed with hot-melt glue to ensure maximum product stability and protection. In terms of Robopac technology, the Genesis Thunder (an automatic rotary ring stretch wrapping machine for palletised loads) completes the line, providing outstanding performance in load stabilisation and material savings, with tangible economic and environmental benefits.
Aetna Group was chosen for its ability to deliver an innovative and competitive solution, backed by extensive experience - especially through its long-standing partnership with OCME. A proposal that stood out for its perfect balance of innovation, efficiency, and reliability. These are qualities that made returning to Aetna Group an obvious choice.
Launched in February 2024, this project has reaffirmed the partners’ shared commitment to ever greater efficiency, safety, and sustainability in production, further strengthening a partnership with its sights set on the future.
