Smart Factory Flexible Packaging by Ipack Ima — the demonstration project designed to meet the manufacturing sector's growing demand for increased flexibility, efficiency, and production capacity, aiming for the highest standards of automation and digitalisation — returns to Ipack-Ima 2025.
Taking centre stage at the 2025 edition will be Aetna Group and Goglio, which will jointly present a state-of-the-art food packaging line at a shared 250 m2 stand (Hall 1, stand C135).

The two players will also be joined by Siemens, which will serve as a technological partner for digitalisation and connectivity purposes, further enhancing the project with advanced integrated data management solutions.

At the heart of the Smart Factory will be a complete coffee packaging line for ground and whole bean coffee.  In an integrated manner, the Line will first place the coffee into flexible bags, then into logistics boxes, ultimately creating a fully wrapped pallet of product ready to be handled by an LGV.

For the production segment, Goglio will present the GStar, a next-generation machine that, for the occasion, will produce 250g single-material packs, combining sustainability, speed, and efficiency in a single solution. The asynchronous bag handling technology enables a production speed of 200 bags per minute, with the flexibility to produce up to 1kg packs, making the GStar a powerful tool for eliminating mechanical constraints, reducing space requirements, and lowering production costs. This solution also provides a tangible response to the growing demand for sustainability, as it is engineered to operate with both traditional laminates and new "ready to recycle" single-material packs. The GStar is fully integrated into Goglio MIND, the IIoT platform developed to monitor machine performance in real time, automatically managing maintenance scheduling, and preventing major production downtime.

The integrated system (the line) will be completed by a secondary and end-of-line packaging solution entirely developed by Aetna Group, consisting of the following elements:
  • The Wrap Around 20 by Sotemapack, a case packer for flexible products capable of executing up to 20 cycles per minute;
  • The Palwrapp by Robopac, a compact palletiser with an integrated wrapping machine that guarantees maximum efficiency with a minimal footprint;
  • An Auriga model automatic laser-guided vehicle by OCME for handling the pallets within the Facility

The synergy between Aetna Group and Goglio exemplifies how collaboration between industry leaders can drive the evolution of industrial automation, effectively addressing the sector’s new challenges. By merging complementary expertise with a strategic vision, the two companies have reaffirmed their leadership in flexible packaging innovation, offering increasingly high-performance, adaptable, and sustainable solutions.

Both companies will also have dedicated stands at Ipack-Ima 2025: Hall 6 B21 for Aetna Group, and Hall 7 A28 for Goglio, where visitors will be able to explore technologies, solutions, and future prospects for a smarter and more integrated supply chain.
