HAUS RABENHORST, A TRADITIONAL FAMILY-RUN COMPANY WITH OVER 200 YEARS OF EXPERTISE, IS KNOWN FOR ITS TOP-QUALITY PREMIUM JUICES, INCLUDING THE VERY POPULAR “ROTBÄCKCHEN” BRAND. TO ENSURE IT REMAINS EFFICIENT AND COMPETITIVE IN THE FUTURE, THE COMPANY DECIDED TO COMPREHENSIVELY MODERNIZE ITS PACKAGING AND PALLETIZING AREA AT THE BEGINNING OF 2023.

Following an in-depth market analysis and tender review, the entire process—from case packing to palletizing—was redesigned. Limited space and a tight schedule presented significant challenges: The old systems had to be dismantled, the floor refurbished, and the new machines installed within just four weeks. To implement the project efficiently, Haus Rabenhorst handed over the execution to a general contractor.

Innovative solutions for maximum efficiency

Special challenges arose in the area of secondary packaging. To meet the increasing demand, the new packaging machine needed to achieve an output of up to 20,000 bottles per hour and enable additional quality checks, such as an “open flap check” and weight check.

The Meypack VP531 wrap-around case packer was chosen—a high-performance packaging machine with a compact, modular design.

Meypack, itself a time-tested company with almost 70 years of experience, is known worldwide for its robust machines built to last. Numerous satisfied, longtime customers rely on the proven quality and reliability of Meypack equipment.

The newly designed cardboard blank and the switch to horizontal format processing have enabled Haus Rabenhorst to achieve significant material savings in cardboard blanks and a 4.2% improvement in pallet load.

At the same time, reduced maintenance costs and improved accessibility for operating personnel have been achieved. A further highlight is the high-performance magazine, which facilitates ergonomic cardboard blank feeding—a clear advantage for working conditions on-site.

Successful implementation and collaborative partnership With the new machine, Haus Rabenhorst has not only increased its production capacity but also significantly improved efficiency and ease of maintenance.

Dr. Axel Ruttkat, plant manager at Haus Rabenhorst, is extremely satisfied:

“With Meypack’s modern case packer, we have been able to adapt production capacity to meet increasing demand volumes, and there is still room to accommodate potential growth in demand. The cooperation was extremely pleasant—the team cooperated harmoniously, and Meypack always took our individual requirements into account.”

Thanks to this successful modernization, Haus Rabenhorst is ideally positioned for the future, with efficient, high-performance systems and a strong partner by its side.
